You will receive 1 to 3 credits for each course successfully completed. Successful completion is a score of 80% or better on the final exam. Our courses qualify for a minimum of 60 minutes of education. Generally, 60 minutes of educational activity is equivalent to 1 AIA Learning Unit (LU), 1 Professional Development Unit (PDH) or 1/10 Continuing Education Unit (CEU).

State definitions vary so please refer to your licensing board for specific criteria. All of our courses qualify for Health, Safety Welfare (HSW) credit.

New Urbanist Media is an approved registered provider of continuing education courses. Our provider number is K272. All of our courses designated with the AIA/CES in the course description, are pre-approved and will be automatically reported to the AIA when you complete your course and quiz. You will need to report to the various state boards where you are registerd. Some states will automatically accept any course approved by the AIA. Note; Our courses have never been rejected by a state board.

The following states mandate continuning education for architects;

Taking an online course with New Urbanist Media is very simple.

1. Purchase a course.
2. View the course.
3. Print course materials and the quiz questions.
4. Take the quiz.
5. Submit your answers through our online system.
6. Print your certificate.
7. We do the rest, report to AIA, and keep your records for 6 years.
You will have 30 days from the time you register and pay for your course to complete it. During that time, you will have unlimited access to the course and course materials. If for any reason, you cannot complete your course in the allotted time, you may contact our offices and request additional time.

Yes, you may log on to our website from any computer and go to your member profile to access your course and all of your record history.
No, this is something that you will do yourself.
LU or Learning Unit is used by the AIA; American Institute of Architects’ continuing education systems (AIA/CES) and is based on a 60 minute hour. The time beyond 60 minutes is recorded in quarter hour increments. Credit should be stated as an AIA/CES learning Unit hour (AIA/CES LU). In order for programs to qualify for HSW or Health Safety and Welfare, credit, providers must demonstrate that 75% of the content specifically addresses one or more HSW-related issues. Programs that qualify for HSW credit are indentified on the course description as “AIA/CES LU/HSW
HSW stands for Health Safety and Welfare. The AIA and many sate boards require that a certain number of continuing education hours are in the subject areas that relate to the health, safety and welfare of the public. The New Urbanist Media courses that qualify for HSW are indicated in the course titles.
