Andres Duany

COURSES: Seaside Florida Tours, Green Solutions Along the Transect & New Urbanism Basics: Changing the Model

Andres Duany along with his Partner Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, has been a founding partner of two very influential architecture firms: Arquitectonica and Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company. With the latter firm, he has than 140 new towns, inner city neighborhoods and urban cores. He has co-authored The Lexicon of the New Urbanism, Suburban Nation, The New Civic Art and The Smartcode Manual. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami, and has been visiting professor at many other universities.

He has received the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Medal, the Dreihaus Prize and two honorary doctorates. The Richard H. Driehaus Prize is awarded to a living architect whose work embodies the principles of traditional and classical architecture and urbanism in contemporary society, and creates a positive, long-lasting cultural, environmental and artistic impact. It is presented annually by the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture. The Henry Hope Reed Award is given in conjunction with the Driehaus Prize to an individual working outside the practice of architecture who has supported the cultivation of the traditional city, its architecture and art through writing, planning or promotion.
